Alexander had his first piano recital yesterday. He performed the renowned musical number "Bingo". He played it very well, and he apparently didn't experience stage fright, even though there were about 50 people at the recital. In fact, as we were walking in to the recital, he said, "A lot of people came to hear me play." He has been taking lessons since the beginning of the year. He was very excited to start, and it made him feel so important to think that he was taking lessons "when he was only four!".
While I love music, I'm pretty much musically and rhythmically inept. But since Alexander has always seemed to like music and has shown an interest in learning to play an instrument, we decided to try piano lessons. I figured maybe he would just plink the keys and get some general exposure to music. So we were pleasantly surprised when he was able to actually pick up some songs and learn the specific keys. Hopefully he will continue to enjoy it.

He is so dang cute. I love the picture of him sitting there waiting for his turn. Piano recitals always made me sooooo nervous. The idea that 50 people were there to listen to me FREAKED me out. Go Alexander!
